The Governor of Atlántico, Elsa Noguera, highlighted the progress of the beach development project in Playa Miramar.

These renovations complement the larger Malecón del Mar megaproject. This includes the new plaza, the pier, the Sazón Atlántico Market, the International Gastronomic Center, and the Ventana de Sueños.

The Government of Atlántico is making excellent progress with the beach development project at Playa Miramar in Puerto Colombia. This project is an integral part of the Malecón del Mar, a major initiative to boost tourism in the municipality, including the plaza, the pier, the Sazón Atlántico Market, the International Gastronomic Center, and the Ventana de Sueños.

The Governor of Atlántico paid a visit to Playa Miramar

Governor Elsa Noguera stated, “In this first stage, the renovation at Pescadores Beach has been initiated, which covers an area of 4,130 square meters. After the installation of enclosures and preliminary cleaning and clearing activities, we are progressing with filling and leveling activities.”

The governor added that this area of the Playa Miramar renovation includes the traditional fishing activity carried out by the local men to support their families economically. This also involves their wives and children in distribution and sales networks. “It is a concerted effort, through their associations, to dignify their profession through facilities that will include a boat dock with capacity for 24 vessels, a service module with refrigeration room, lockers, bathrooms, and showers. It will also have a sales point, a parking lot with 50 spaces, a lifeguard booth, furnishings, lighting, and green areas,” emphasized Noguera.

The other active work front, as part of the development plan, is the area of the Ventana de Sueños. This is a space where Atlántico is joining forces with Technoglass and the municipality to create a new touristic monument. In the progress of this project, the steel structure is already at a level of over 45 meters, the pouring of stamped concrete floors is 80% complete, and work is underway to prepare the area for artificial turf. Anchors for the aluminum structure supporting the glass will arrive next week, and the scaffolding is currently being set up for the glass installation.

How far along is the project?

Jorge Ávila, the manager of “Parques para la Gente”, states that they are currently executing various projects in this area. These projects encompass constructing 150 parking spaces, installing access ramps, setting up lighting, and creating green areas. These initiatives have made 26% progress to date.

Ávila added that they are actively reconstructing 1,600 meters of the Malecón del Mar sidewalk as part of this intervention. The main objective is to ensure universal accessibility and safe circulation for visitors to this urban beach in Puerto Colombia. Currently, this project has achieved a 12% progress in execution. The ongoing work includes reinforcing the curbs with steel anchors, pouring concrete, and setting up formwork.

In the upcoming weeks, the mangrove area will become the focus of construction efforts. This plan has received approval from environmental organizations and the Regional Autonomous Corporation (CRA). Simultaneously, activities will kick off in the gastronomic and sports sector of this secondary beach development initiative within the department. This project has successfully passed all feasibility assessments with DIMAR and CRA.

Furthermore, substantial advancements have taken place in the social consultation process involving the local communities. The Community Action Board of the Miramar neighborhood and the Environmental Guardians Network of the municipality have been actively engaged. These groups form part of the committee responsible for overseeing the progress of the ongoing work.
