Barranquilla to host WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2024

Barranquilla will host the Under-15 2024 Baseball World Cup as announced by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). The event will take place from August 16 to 25, 2024.

The city of Barranquilla will be the main venue, with the Edgar Rentería Stadium hosting the medal games and the grand final.

“We remember Barranquilla as a perfect host of the 2018 WBSC Under-23 Baseball World Cup,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari.

He recalled that “the atmosphere during the medal games at the Edgar Rentería Stadium was exceptional,” anticipating “another great tournament.”

Meanwhile, Mauricio Char, President of the Colombian Baseball Federation, celebrated the WBSC’s decision, stating that “it will be a pleasure for Colombia, Barranquilla, and the Colombian Baseball Federation to host the VI Under-15 Baseball World Cup.”

“We are confident that Colombian fans will come together to support this important event,” he added.

To date, six teams have qualified for the 2024 Under-15 Baseball World Cup:

  • Africa (1): No. 34 South Africa
  • Asia (2): No. 5 Chinese Taipei, No. 1 Japan
  • Europe (2): No. 7 Netherlands, No. 14 Italy
  • Oceania (1): No. 33 Guam

“Five teams will earn their place for the Under-15 World Cup in the WBSC Americas Qualifying Tournament, currently taking place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, until Thursday, March 21st. A wild card will complete the participant lineup,” explained the WBSC.
