Once again, there is a celebration in the kitchen. Sabor Barranquilla, the most delicious festival of the Colombian Caribbean, returns to celebrate the heart of our kitchens. There, the legacy of the matrons, women who have dedicated their lives to preserving and transmitting our culinary traditions, beats, and they are the voices of their communities.

With their voices and hands, the matrons of Colombia’a kitchens sing, tells stories, and prepare dishes that transmit and preserve the gastronomic heritage of our regions.

Alchemists from this and other eras, the matrons have kept us connected to what arises from the land we inhabit and walk on, and it returns to us in the form of food to remind us of where we come from: the exceptional aspects of our world.

They are the ones who have taught the art of savoring each dish with devotion and respect, and that’s why this year Sabor Barranquilla honors and celebrates them.

The image of Sabor Barranquilla 2023 reflects the strength and joy of several generations of women dedicated to traditional cooking. Their faces are a testimony of wisdom, of stories transmitted through their hands and flavors.

Defenders of culinary heritage, the matrons are an indispensable and omnipresent figure in the kitchens of all regions, and the image of this edition of the fair speaks to that diversity of origins and races.

The most delicious festival of the Colombian Caribbean lights up the stoves. The matrons will be the undisputed protagonists of an edition that, more than ever, remembers and celebrates them.

When and where is the Sabor Barranquilla food festival?

You can catch the Sabor Barranquilla festival from August 24 to 27, 2023, at the Puerta de Oro Convention Center. It is one of the largest gastronomic fairs in the region, and one of the most important events in the Colombian food festival calendar, that will pay tribute to these women who conquer palates and hearts by bringing the countryside to the table.

Tickets can be purchased from Sabor Barranquilla’s website. Each ticket is $16,000 COP for adults and $8,000 COP for children.

After the food festival, we recommend walking off some of those calories by taking a stroll down the Gran Malecón del Río, or the Grand Boardwalk of Barranquilla, and taking in some lovely views of the Magdalena River.
