The Colombian women’s national football team returns this summer to compete in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, after being absent in the previous edition held in 2019 in France.

Colombia qualified for the World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by two countries from two confederations: Australia and New Zealand. They secured their spot as runners-up in the 2022 Copa America held in Colombia.

This marks the third time that the Colombian women’s team participates in a World Cup. They made their debut in Germany 2011, where they were eliminated after losing 3-0 against the United States. In Canada 2015, the Colombian team “competed to the extreme and showed remarkable progress,” according to FIFA. They faced tough opponents in the “Group of Death” with Mexico, France, and England. The Colombian team reached the Round of 16 but once again faced defeat against the United States, who went on to take home the trophy that year.

In Australia and New Zealand 2023, Colombia’s first match will be against South Korea, and much of their hope rests on the shoulders of Real Madrid’s footballer, Linda Caicedo.

Below are all the details of the Colombian team’s participation in the World Cup, so you won’t miss their journey in the tournament.
