The 8th Annual Barranquilla Marathon will be held on March 10, 2024 and registrations opened on, July 15, 2023. The last day to register for the marathon will be the day before the event on March 9, 2024.
The 2023 marathon had more than 8,000 participants, started and ended at the Gran Malecón and went through key landmarks of the city including the Ventana al Mundo, Intendencia Fluvial, Coliseo Sugar Baby Rojas, and barrio El Prado.
Participants can register for one of four different races: the 5K, 10K, 21K (half-marathon), and 42K.
The director and founder of the race, Tito Crissien, mentioned that with these marathons, “we are creating around 400 direct jobs and 800 indirect jobs due to all the logistics required. It’s not the same as a 21K race when we started, as a 42K race requires more hydration points and more people involved in production, in addition to food, restaurants, and sports tourism, which brings visitors to Barranquilla, demanding hotel accommodations.”
It is worth mentioning that the Marathon strengthens the perception of Barranquilla as a sports capital, not only at the national level but also in Latin America.
