The Barranquilla Zoo has announced an exciting nighttime event that no one will want to miss.
On this occasion, the zoo will honor Tantor, the iconic elephant and symbol of the city since 1991 when we rescued and brought him to the Barranquilla Zoo. The elephant has given great lessons in strength. In the later stages of his life as a senior, he has successfully overcome various health challenges, with the two interventions on his tusks being the most challenging.
The Samburu tribe of Africa will serve as inspiration to narrate his story, as well as the life and behaviors of elephants and the communities that share their territory.
In this experience designed for audiences of all ages, we invite visitors to wear neon-colored clothing and makeup or outfits inspired by African tribes to create a colorful and magical night together. Additionally, the event will feature activities with nocturnal animals, African dances, shadow theater, and a wide range of culinary offerings.
This year, the zoo will limit the capacity, and will hold all activities, including the shows, three times during the night in a loop so that attendees can comfortably enjoy the full experience.
Those animals that do not have a nocturnal lifestyle will be sleeping, so their enclosures will remain dark.
