Netflix is secretly filming a new series in Barranquilla: here’s what we know.
Well-known Colombian actors were spotted in the Centro area of the capital of Atlántico.
Colombian talent has been considered export-worthy in recent years thanks to stars like SofÃa Vergara or Juan Pablo Raba. However, another reason why the country has soared in the international entertainment industry is because its cities have served as locations for various productions.
This is the case with a Netflix series currently being filmed in Barranquilla. According to photographic material captured by the local newspaper El Heraldo, the series is using the streets of the Centro area of Barranquilla as a backdrop, especially the Plaza de San Nicolás, where they set up tents and technical vehicles, which will remain on-site until March 27th.
Most of the filming is taking place on Carrera 42C between Calles 33 and 32. Production teams were also spotted in Puerto Colombia, including spaces such as Castillo de Salgar and Lagos del Caujaral. Furthermore, the media highlighted that other emblematic locations being used for filming include Casa del Carnaval, Malecón del RÃo, La Aleta del Tiburón, La Ventana al Mundo, La Intendencia Fluvial, and more.
At least three hundred people are participating in the filming, with room for seventy extras who were selected from regional actors. Meanwhile, the main cast consists of Manolo Cardona, Juana Acosta, Barranquilla native Carlos Torres, and fellow Barranquillera, Mábel Moreno.
So far, no details related to the plot or genre of the program under development have been revealed. However, the cited media outlet hinted that the production’s title is Medusa which was spotted on staff clothing.
Barranquilla was chosen as one of the locations to launch the fourth session of Netflix’s Stranger Things on May 26, 2022.
