In anticipation of the vacation season, the ‘Sunflower Route’ known in Spanish as La Ruta del Girasol in the department of Atlántico, is being reactivated as a day plan to enjoy with family and friends.

The tourist and gastronomic stop called ‘Gira entre soles’ has returned to Baranoa, offering a tourist space open to both locals and visitors during the vacation season. In addition to sunflowers, it will feature local gastronomy and crafts. Furthermore, there will be experiences for children, who can interact with some animals and take pony rides.

The sunflower plantation can be visited from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The cost for visitors is 10,000 pesos per person, and children under 10 years of age have free admission.

It is located on the Troncal del Caribe, on the road that leads from Galapa to Baranoa, next to a gas station at the entrance to the Pital de Megua district.

The Secretary of Economic Development, Luis Humberto Martínez, stated, “La Ruta del Girasol (the Sunflower Route) is back, this time at the tourist and gastronomic stop ‘Gira entre soles’ in Baranoa, an important experience to share with family. The plantation has 10,000 seeds planted in an area of two and a half hectares, which were sown in stages to have a cultivation available for a longer period of time and become a plan for this holiday season.”

This tourist plan has been visited by over 80,000 people who have explored the yellow fields, adding beauty to the department and reactivating the local economy in the municipalities of Baranoa, Usiacurí, Galapa, Santo Tomás, Malambo, Piojó, Puerto Colombia, and Sabanalarga.
