The rumors have ended, we have a new queen! After weeks of anticipation, Barranquilla finally announced the new sovereign of its most important celebration. On the 9th of September, 2023, it was revealed that Melissa Cure Villa is the queen of the 2024 Carnaval de Barranquilla. She becomes the 88th carnival queen.
In the streets of La Arenosa, there is a dream that beats in the hearts of many women: to be the ultimate figure of the most anticipated celebration for the residents of Barranquilla, and Cure achieved one of her biggest dreams.
Ten (10) women applied with dreams of becoming the 2024 Carnaval de Barranquilla queen. Cure will be representing all of Barranquilla during the carnival festivities in February 2024.
For these young women, the carnival is not just an annual celebration; it is a source of inspiration and a symbol of identity deeply rooted in their hearts. They dream of wearing the crown and sash, not only as a personal honor but as an opportunity to represent their city and celebrate the rich cultural heritage that defines Barranquilla.
From a young age, these women look up to the queens who exude joy with grace and elegance, carrying the vibrant spirit of Carnival with them. They see in them not only figures of beauty but also leaders who personify the pride and joy of being Barranquilleras.”
When is the 2024 Carnaval and where can I buy tickets?
The 2024 Carnaval de Barranquilla will take place from February 10 to 13, 2024.
Palco tickets can be purchased online from Tuboleta. Bear in mind that you cannot purchase tickets for individual days, palco tickets are for all three (3) days of the carnival: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. There are also many pre-carnaval festivities in the month leading up to the main carnaval weekend. One event we certainly recommend going to is the night parade the Friday night of the week before called La Guacherna.
