The Urbana Rock Festival will be back in October. The cultural agenda in Barranquilla shows no signs of slowing down. After the excitement we experienced in August with the battle of the bands at the Rock Warehouse, we can confidently say that Barranquilla truly lives and breathes rock music.
The local bands invited to this event include Back2School, Tubará, Old Stars Rockers BQ, Catacumbas, and Tres Gatos. The national bands featured are Mowa, Ferales, Sunset Street, Explicit Violence, Wanady, Epidemia Inc, and Gritos de Asko.
Juan Jaramillo, the director of Clena, explained the importance of being an allied member for this type of event. Without a dedicated and well-organized space, it would be impossible to host an event like this.
“This is an event that not only brings together young people but also adults who were once young themselves. That’s why Urbana Rock comes here to the Plaza de la Aduana, to experience a different kind of party,” stated Jaramillo.
In addition, the bands chosen to represent the local music scene at Urbana Rock Fest 2023 have been announced. The selected bands are Mal de Ojo, NAT, Antropófagos, The Satanic Majesties Request, Turbo Jets, The Ivory King, Palmera Sur, and Brutally Impaled.
These groups competed on August 26 and 27 in the “Battle of the Bands.” There they showcased their musical repertoire to an enthusiastic audience at La Bodega del Rock. This venue is known for hosting live music performances by artists and bands, and this event was no exception, as it had a full house.
When and where will the event take place?
Urbana Rock Fest 2023 promises a diverse range of genres rarely seen in the city. The event will take place on October 14 and 15, at la Plaza de la Aduana.
The bands that secured a spot in the festival met specific criteria that included their performance, attire, and other factors, as evaluated by the judges.
