Each trolley, named RÃo and Mar, has a capacity for about 70 passengers each, including those with reduced mobility, and will be fully electric.
The project also includes the pedestrian boardwalk of Tajamar, which is over 2,400 linear meters long and will be an attraction point for residents and visitors.
According to the Secretary of Public Works, Rafael Lafont, the project is practically ready, with only some details remaining at the station. “The rail part is finished, but we need to finish the roof and floors of the stations,” the official assured.
In the Tajamar Market area, where the Las Flores station is located, commercial points, user assistance, accessible bathrooms, and an environmental classroom are being finalized. Additionally, a parking lot with a capacity for more than 100 vehicles will be enabled.
The new Puerto Mocho trolley promises to offer a unique tourist experience and to energize the sector and transform the transportation that has characterized Barranquilla for decades. With this initiative, tourism in this region is expected to receive a boost.
