With more than 9,300 visitors on its first opening day, the Swedish store, IKEA, hopes to reach households in Colombia through its website.
IKEA, the Swedish furniture and decor brand, captivated Bogotá residents this past Thursday, September 28th, at the Mall Plaza NQS shopping center with a large opening. Long lines were seen from early in the morning to be among the first customers to enter the store and browse more than 6,000 items available at the largest store of this important company in Latin America.
Among the preferred products for customers were dishware sets, known for their quality and affordability, as well as shoe organizers that offer practical solutions to keep spaces tidy.
They also indicated that on the first day of operation alone, they served their customers more than 1,250 plates of their iconic Swedish meatballs.
Attendees were able to experience everything that the IKEA store offers in its more than 40 showrooms and explore the gastronomic offerings in the restaurant, bistro, and Swedish market.
IKEA at your fingertips: create and design your spaces
With the opening of its first store, IKEA launched its online sales channel to the public on Friday, IKEA.com.co. The portal allows access to more than 6,000 home products and solutions from the comfort of your home, as well as access to virtual reality and planning tools that ensure a different shopping experience.
In the initial phase, IKEA will offer the e-commerce channel to customers in Bogotá and its surroundings, and in the future, the channel will expand its coverage to cities like Cali, Medellín, and Barranquilla, to reach more homes throughout the country.
“Thanks to all the Colombians who visited us yesterday. We are proud to start and be part of their homes, and we hope to be a source of inspiration and innovative solutions for decoration and interior design for everyone. We look forward to seeing you in our store, located in Mallplaza NQS, and on IKEA.com.co, offering a wide range of affordable and quality products that will bring functionality and style to your homes,” said Hasbleidy Castañeda, manager of IKEA Colombia.
