Want to get a taste of the world-famous Carnaval de Barranquilla? Well now you’ll have the chance to learn more about carnival culture and enjoy a new experience to the rhythm of drums, flutes, and the authentic rhythms of the festival. The Carnaval de Barranquilla ‘Summer Edition: Sea and River’ will be launched for the first time.
The initiative, led by Carnaval de Barranquilla S.A.S. and the Barranquilla City Hall, will take place on July 14th and 15th, 2023, at the Gran Malecón and will feature the participation of dances, comparsas (carnival groups), costumes, and crafts representative of the country’s most important cultural event.
Additionally, the Gay Carnival, Southwest (Suroccidente) Carnival, Tambó, and Southeast (Suroriente) Carnival will also join the event.
The city’s most attractive venue will also offer a wide gastronomic selection that everyone can enjoy during the summer vacation season.
This event also serves as an opportunity for the city to be included in the circuit of riverfront festivals that take place around the world, such as Loy Krathong Festival of Lights in Thailand, the Han River Festival in South Korea, the Montreal International Jazz Festival in Canada on the Saint Lawrence River, and the Gualeguaychú Carnival in Argentina on the Uruguay River.
