The new Caribe Aventura Water Park, located between Cartagena and Barranquilla on the Vía al Mar highway at Kilómetro 51 in Piojó – Atlántico, will be opening its doors on July 29, 2023 as the first and largest water park in this region of Colombia.
The park aims to provide joy and wholesome entertainment to local, national, and international visitors. It covers an area of 50 hectares, with 34 hectares still under development. The park features replicas of iconic sites such as the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Totumo Volcano. Additional attractions include Coco Splash and a wave pool inspired by Cabo San Juan in Tayrona Park.
The park’s investment exceeds 115 billion Colombian pesos and is fully powered by solar energy, reducing its CO2 emissions by 755 tons per year. Over 3,000 trees and 10,000 plants have been planted to contribute to environmental conservation in the area. Caribe Aventura also promotes inclusive tourism by providing a pool for people with disabilities.
Modern Technology
In terms of technology, the park stands out as the only one in the world with a digital system that allows visitors to track the real-time location of their family members and companions, preventing the loss of minors. It is equipped with 487 facial recognition cameras and utilizes a QR code system for entry. The park also offers 1,300 parking spaces and a system to keep track of the number of people entering and exiting.
During the construction of the park, 800 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs were generated. Upon its opening on July 29th, the park is expected to hire local labor to continue creating employment opportunities.
Caribe Aventura Water Park promises to provide a unique experience for thousands of individuals and families in the Colombian Caribbean. As of its opening date, the park will be able to accommodate up to 7,000 visitors per day.
It was recently announced that the Miss Universe Colombia swimsuit competition is going to be held at the newly opened Caribe Aventura Water Park on Saturday, August 26th at 8:30am.
The water park is one of the megaprojects currently under construction near Barranquilla in the department of Atlántico.
