The Barranquijazz Festival is one of the most important Latin jazz festivals in Colombia and the Caribbean and will return in September 2023. It has been held every year during the second week of September since 1997. The main purpose of this music event is to promote the appreciation of jazz and regional music by bringing together various African and Caribbean rhythms, including Cuban, salsa, mambo, bolero, charanga, cha-cha-cha, among many others.

Barranquijazz is organized by the Cultural Foundation Nueva Música, which has been led by Samuel Minski for over 12 years. The festival primarily takes at various locations but this year the events will be held at Teatro Jose Consuegra, Salón Jumbo, and Parque Sagrado Corazon. However, there are more than 10 free activities held during the festival days at different venues in the city, such as the Plazoleta del Teatro, Plaza de la Paz, Universidad del Norte, Buenavista Mall, Estadio Romelio Martínez, and occasionally in municipalities of the Atlántico department, among others.
