Puerto Colombia isn’t technically Barranquilla — it’s a small coastal town 20 minutes north — but for residents of the city it functions as the local beach escape. The historic pier, the seafood restaurants on the water, and the relatively uncrowded beaches make it a weekend institution.

An increasing number of people are choosing to live in Puerto Colombia and commute into Barranquilla, attracted by the lower rents, sea air, and slower pace. The town is seeing new development but has retained its character.

Vibe

Relaxed, coastal, authentic. A proper Colombian beach town rather than a resort.

Cost of Living

Lower than Barranquilla proper. Good value for apartments near the water.
